Match report u14s(B): Fri 18 May - West Herts (144-3) beat St Albans (79 - 7) by 65 runs
After winning our first 3 matches, we have come up against evidently the strongest team in our group West Herts who beat us comfortably for the second time this week.
West Herts' batsmen played confidently throughout, despite some decent bowling. Oscar Reeves (0-14) managed to exert some control and took a smart catch, while Jake Clarke (1-19) and Will McAlister (1-19) both picked up a wicket. But West Herts were able to hit good balls as well as bad ones and racked up an imposing 144.
That target was always going to be too much, especially with West Herts' opener bowling as quickly as anyone is likely to across this county age group. Oscar Reeves and Joe O'Hare saw him out though, and Oscar Reeves (retired on 27) kept his concentration and technique to hold the innings together. However he lacked sustained support. We finished well short - although at least again we managed to bat out the whole 20 overs, some comfort.
