Match report SACC u 14s v Rickmansworth Tues 12/6/2018 at Clarence Park
Not a proper league match as Rickmansworth were short and in fact turned up with only 6 players. While that was disappointing, the 6 were keen and at least we were able to play some cricket with some SA players kindly "volunteering" to swap over.
Batting for the main SA group, Oscar Reeves (12) and Finlay Killner (12) got out after a steady start. 2 more wickets fell quickly before some crisp strokeplay from Jake Clark (25 retired) gave some impetus, supported by Arthur Rees (16). The innings ended when SA's own Oscar Ainsworth came into the attack and yorked the stumps over with his very first ball.
All out for 71 (for 7).
In response, Oscar Reeves bowled a threatening spell (1 for 5 off 3) with good support from Jake Clark, Joe Mason and Thomas Coulling, but Rickmansworth acculumated steadily. Finlay Killner's 2 for 10 pegged them back and a tense finale was in prospect with the last pair of our loanees Oscar Ainsworth and Will McAlister at the crease with 8 runs to win. Oscar kept his cool and his 6 off what proved to be the last ball was decisive, although it should have brought only 2 as 4 overthrows brought the match to a anti-climactic end.
For league purposes in view of the numbers/loanees a tie was declared.
