St Albans Cricket Club 2XI v Bentley Heath on Sat 10 Aug 2019 at 13.00
St Albans Cricket Club Won 6 wickets

Match report Off the back of last week's dramatic victory over Rickmansworth the 2s looked to try and build some form going into the business end of the season with victory a must against 4th placed Bentley Heath.

As Saints arrived to an extremely windy CP and Rajanis decision to try and protect the wicket before play failed, J Rosson found himself clutching onto the covers and being swept along the surface towards the trees and Rajani himself almost taken off of his feet in his attempts to rescue the situation. Following this Saints found themselves in the field and opened up with Adshead and D Rosson. Adshead wasted no time in claiming the end with the wind and delivered 7 tight overs claiming the first wicket with his final ball. At this stage Bentley Heath were going relatively well at around 50-1 but what ensued after this spell was quite simply an awful collapse. Saqib tore through Heath's middle order claiming his first 5fer for the club and was well supported by Rajani and Kumar who both bowled tightly and picked up 3 wickets between them. Bentley Heath had slumped to a below par 110 all out.

Openers Dean and Wyldes opened up on what was set to be Wyldes' final game for the club. The home faithful could barely believe their eyes when Wyldes first and last ball of the innings was chipped straight to square leg. At least it wasn't another run out. Watkins and Malik came and went before Dean fell for a well made 31 after battling well against some tidy bowling from Bentley Heath. After Saints had spent 25 overs going at 2.5 an over it was time for Boom Boom Tooley to enter proceedings. Any chances Bentley Heath had of winning were quickly dashed as O'Toole smashed his way to 47 not out to see the 2s into the bar for jaegy shadys well before 6 o clock.

Another convincing performance by the 2s and another 30 points on the board, leapfrogging their opponents in the process. All the 2s can do is carry on winning and hope for the best at this stage of the season. With the remaining games being against the bottom 4 teams the 2s will fancy their chances but at this stage it's about concentration and showing no complacency that will be the key.
