Beaconsfield v St Albans Cricket Club Women's 1XI on Sun 30 May 2021 at 14:55
St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 40 runs

Match report It was a relatively inexperienced, development side that took to the field for the first of their two Super Eight games against Beaconsfield. It was a beautiful day and the venue was the stunning Chesham bowl.
Once the full compliment of St Albans players had arrived, the first batting pair, Katie Langley and Louise Nichols strode out to the middle to face some fast and accurate bowling. They made 13 and 14 respectively, with Louise hitting a couple of well struck 4s, although Katie was well-bowled in their 4th and final over.
They were replaced by joint-skipper Jessica Cowen and Dharmista Nagar (Cooks), who faced a similar onslaught. They amassed 24 runs, although four wickets fell, including a run-out and 3 clean bowled. Jessica top scored with 20 and was bowled once.
Lashika Jayawardena and Sophie Meredith strode out and rotated the strike well, but were tied down a bit by continued excellent bowling.
The other joint-skipper Charlotte Nelson, and Anna Shaw were the last pair and chalked up 22 runs, including an explosive 15 for Charlotte.
There were further wickets, though, and despite equalling the more experienced Beaconsfield batting with 79 off the bat, the adjusted St Albans score was 265 (starting from 200, of course).
There then followed an excellent bowling and fielding effort, with some real energy and effort out on the boundary to try and restrict the opposition. Alas, there were more extras and far fewer wickets for St Albans, with only Jess picking up a wicket to add to the two run-outs. The bowling was shared out across the team, with only Jess bowling the full 4 overs; and Charlotte did an excellent job behind the stumps.
Although they had been well beaten, with Beaconsfield reaching 305 in reply, there were several positives for the St Albans team to take from this game, including staying positive as not giving up and some good work in the field. There was also a glimpse of some good stroke play with the bat and it will be interesting to see how this team develops as they get more games under their belts.
