St Albans Cricket Club Won by 65 runs

Match report St Albans turned up to a very rainy Hitchin, to which skipper Amy lost the toss (shock) and Saints were put into bat. Not the best start to our innings especially when we were 14-3 of 4.4 overs. Of course, a huge rain cloud poured down, which left us waiting for around 30 minutes until we were back on to bat.
Amy and Charlotte batted and recovered well to 86-4 though before Charlotte was unlucky to be caught behind. Amy scored a hard-earned half century and enjoyed another solid partnership with Kate before being run out with score on 135-5. Hitchin desperately trying to stop the runs and a little bit of wild bowling led to plenty of boundaries and frustration from bowlers. St Albans scored an excellent total of 165-5, Amy 86*, Kate 31 and Charlotte 19.
After a quick tea and team talk, Cerys and Kate opened the bowling, keeping an extremely tight line and length and restricting Hitchin to singles. After 10 overs Hitchin had only scored 28 runs. Sophie M and Sophie B bowled brilliantly, Sophie M 3-26 bowled with intent with plenty of diving to field her own bowling and starting Hitchin’s fall of wickets. Some strong fielding particularly from Nicki, Liv, Charlotte and Sophie M stopped Hitchin converting 1s into 2s and prevented boundaries.
Halfway through at 15 overs Hitchin were only at 51. Another strong fielding and bowling display from the Saints, led to Hitchin falling 66 runs short scoring 100-7 off their 30 overs.
A well-deserved 25 points!
