St Albans Cricket Club Won St Albans win by 11 runs (40 overs a side)

Match report In a late start (2.50pm) this 40 overs a side game got underway with St Albans batting first and looked set to pile on a big score from the first over. With Rex & Marcus T going at over 6 runs an over they looked as if they may bat the entire 40 overs.
Marcus T hit a fine 64 before falling to a catch. He was soon followed by Rex who had also hit a fine 50.

Marcus Maisey looked in good form (19) before being bowled. Pat Sylvester, fresh from his 51no on Saturday, looked to blast the ball to al parts, but only found a fielder in the way. He was quickly followed by Captain Maynard who missed 'the' straight ball of the day.

Jerry Fretter and Rudi Mukherjee took the total to 235 before young 'muckers' played on. A final score of 244 looked sufficient at the break.

JR opened the bowling and took a wicket in his 1st over as he found the edge through to the 'keeper, J Fretter. This brought in an African International who started to blast the ball to all parts. However, it was not to last as Rudi Mukherjee had him smartly caught at cover by Nick James.

The visitors were always behind the run rate and needing 7, 8 and 9 runs an over as some points they continued to smash the ball to the boundary. Marcus Maisey came into the attack and stemed the run rate. He was denied the plumiest of plum LBW's, which the umpire later admitted was out, but he didn't want to ruin the game. However he was rewarded with two wickets which sealed the match. He also denied the Stanmore opener a century when he through over the stumps from deep square leg and found himself run out by 2-3 yards. A peice of suicidal running also accounted for one of the lower order, who decided to run when the ball had passed directly to J Fretter behind the stumps who had the easiest of throws to run the batsmen out by 21 yards. The Stanmore Jaffrey side finished 11 runs short at 8.45pm ??!!
