St Albans Cricket Club 4XI v Hertingfordbury II on Sat 18 May 2002 at 1:30
St Albans Cricket Club Won St Albans Win by 6 wickets (30 pts)

Match report A fine 30 points, despite a number of dropped catches.
Hertfordingbury openers put on 62 for the opening stand, before Tim Fretter took 3 wickets on in 3 overs. The St Albans side were then always on top. Uzman Zaman was unlucky when he had numerous chances dropped in the slips. He was rewarded when he took two late wickets. Barry Atkinson also took two wickets in an eventful spell, as Hertfordingbury fell from 61-0 to 65-5 in 6 overs.

Hertfordingbury finished on 129 after 49.2 overs. This left St Albans to get the total in 50 overs.

They started off at the required rate as Pat Sylvester and Richard Williams put away some poor bowling. Williams finaly fell to a caught and bowled and Tim Fretter unluckly to be give Leg before. 'Trigger' Haygate also gave David Coombs out with the same decision. Simon Marriott found the bowling to his liking as he hit the ball to all parts. Assisted by Raj Mehta he took the St Albans score to within 4 runs before he fell to a 'slog' having got to his maiden 50.

It was left to J Fretter to see off the winning runs with 14 overs to spare.

A good start for Ade Hallchurch in his first spell as Captain.
