Match report Another Saturday home game saw another full CP car park, meaning innovative parking solutions were needed. With still no sign of a football for the warmup, the youth put up a much stiffer resistance in the game of vortex, but a lack of experience gave another W for the old men.

Skipper Joe flipped a good coin and won the toss, and elected to bowl, actually listening to groundsman Cales’ experienced advice, and not the oppo’s arrogant captain.

Baylis and Badshead opened up, bowling some nice areas, and creating a couple of very good chances in the first 10, neither of which were taken. With the score on 55 without loss, Leverstock Green were looking off to a sound start with some extravagant and brain dead cricket. On came Jamie Regan to change the game, aided with Joshy bowling tight from the pavilion end, the Saints took 6 wickets for 22 runs. A couple of composed partnerships followed from the visitors, which helped them to an under par total of 193-9 from their 50 overs, with shoutouts to Jamie for 5-32, Joshy 2-19 and Baylis for a keg ball.

An ample 30 minute tea break meant Mr Sims had time to bring Simsy’s co-op lunch.

Leverstock Green surprisingly started off very quiet in the field, until one brought two and we were down 14-2 with both openers back in the hut. Max began the rebuild with Bancroft, before departing with the yellows on 43. The in-form Tom O’Toole was next, and together with Bancroft got their heads down and batted very sensibly. After a partnership of 100, Bancroft remembered he had a party to go to, and brought out the guns to score as quickly as Shaun Jeffers at the start of the season. TOT at the other end felt a bit left out, smoking a couple down the ground, but only for 4 a piece. Together they guided us home with an unbeaten stand of 151, Bancroft and TOT in the runs.
