Match report Saints took the trip down to picturesque former Middlesex outground Southgate Adelaide ground and were greeted by the lovely sight of three competitive matches being played across the greens.

Saints “ummed and ahhed” about the prospect of bowling first having experienced a heavy loss to Old Elizabethans in the first game of their recent double header. It was all to no avail though as May lost his previously immaculate toss record anyway and Saints batted first.
Law and Nisar opened the innings and got Saints up to 40-2 after the powerplay. Despite the pitch condition, boundaries were hard to come by. May and Nisar (35) kept the scoreboard ticking over and a flurry of boundaries from May at the back end saw a respectable 138-4 posted with May finishing unbeaten on 53.

Things didn’t get off to a good start with the ball with Southgate racing along to 60-1 after just 6 overs with only Curran (1-9) showing respectable powerplay figures. With defeat looming however, enter Jacob “Winners” Winfield (2-20) and May (1-11) to bring Saints back into the running.
After their skipper was adjudged not out smashing a ball behind to Lawrence and subsequently not walking off May’s bowling, the handbags came out and the first team duo of Sims and Mulvaney were duly activated to put the final nail in the opposition’s coffin.

Southgate Adelaide finished on 120-9 and 2 more points for the Saints were in the bag!
