Match report A lovely sunny evening and a full crowd saw St Albans win with just 2 balls to spare.
St Albans put Hatfield in to bat and bowled with pace and purpose. Some excellent fielding included 2 direct hits by Alfie Button and James Dempsey, and a 20th over wicket maiden from Tom Blight helped restrict Hatfield to 60.
St Albans started their reply steadily and lost their first wicket in the 9th over. Hugo Harding kept the runs ticking over with 18. However some accurate bowling and poor shot selection saw wickets tumble, and the run rate climb. With 5 wickets down in the 14th over, and only 39 on the board, Jack Ypey joined Tom Dilley at the crease and played a very controlled innings. The tension built steadily with 4 runs needed off the last over. Jack waited patiently, eventually skipping down the wicket to loft the ball over the fielders for the winning boundary with 2 balls to spare, and finish on 16 not out - much to the relief for one half of the spectators!
