Match report Following a heroic run chase thanks to the likes of Monis and Hammer, Posh Etonian Rory Law called in a strong side to face Welwyn Garden City.

After Rory’s best performance of the day, winning the toss, Deb and Zach West stepped out to the crease, with West accumulating early runs.

At the other end Deb struggled to get off the mark and got a stump cartwheeler to remove him for naught.

In came James Church, starting strong with a few glorious flicks off the pads for 4. West eventually fell to a full toss that he plinked to mid-on.

Rory stepped out to the crease, then walked back.

Church and Jithin fell both not long after, with the umpire forgetting that the stumps don’t grow when a tall person is batting, giving Church out to a bouncer for James Caswell.

Monis and O’Toole made a solid partnership, with a small cameo by Banks at the end, forcing the captain Rory to bat him 5 the next week. Saints finished on 195 all out, and under par score for the wicket.

The bowling innings started with a dropped catch off the fifth ball of the game, which cost the team plenty as both batsmen cashed in. Banks eventually removed one of the openers with a full toss chipped to cover.

Much like West Ham’s season this year, the second innings started poor, hope was given, then ultimately crushed at the final hurdle, with a star bowling performance from West in the middle overs taking 4-34.

Sammy Kumar also bowled very tight, keeping the run rate low, and giving us belief that was too little too late.

Not the 2nd Xi’s best day out, summarised by a few moments that could have turned the result around, on to next week where we face arch enemy Billy May at Rickmansworth.
