Match report The 2s day started nice and early, Jimmy organising a net for the side at 9:45am before the mid-distance drive to Old Camdenians. Also a nice short journey for Monis, who was only 10 minutes late to the meet time. We were playing quite near a train station, in fairness. It was warm, small and looked pretty flat. Good toss to win from Law, who continues to show his value to the team by tossing excellently. Out strode West and Rosson, West immediately 1-0ing Rosson, single first ball with the strike, turning it down the other way to leave Jim on 0. Old Cams opened the bowling with spin which seemed our undoing. West missed a straight one and Rosson skied one to mid wicket. Doory Law came out and was adjudged LBW. Saints in trouble.

We saw a pleasing counter from Howeson and Church, both getting their front feet so far forward the turn was negated, then some hitting later on, a big six from Church and some steady accumulating from Howeson, a man in form. Howeson fell, also adjudged LBW after punching it, and Monis got a low one. Jithin and Church raised hopes, both batting nicely, but both falling in similar styles, skying slow, floaty spin balls. The collapse started, Murphy deciding to fall on his stumps instead of playing a shot and Banksy and JC LBW. 160 all out. it felt at least 100 under par on a flat wicket, but old Cams batting had been frail in the past.

Sadly, we started with the ball as we did with the bat, JC bowling some full tosses to greet Old Cams new keeper. Chennells looked better, tying him in more knots than Highgate CC's legal team, and snagged the early wicket of their junior opener. Banks snicked the keeper off, an excellent diving catch from Jithin behind the stumps, but by this point it already felt a little out of reach.

One chance we felt we had was through the chuckle brothers at square leg and cover, relentlessly chirping at Elam, the South African who scores all their runs, Murphy and JC decided to give him a batting masterclass during his innings. He looked good for a while then Murphy got him out trying to hit him over the top. I suspect he wouldn't have played the shot if he hadn't engaged so much. The over rate deteriorated as JC was sent to field in front of "the hollies" and Murph was just given the ball (picking a spinner to fix the over rate went well). Old Cams chased the score pretty easily then gave us a jug of quite nice beer.
