St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 4 wickets

Match report Saints faced a tough challenge against the league leaders and, after losing the toss, were asked to bowl first on a flat wicket with a rapid outfield.

Evie and Freya made an excellent start with the new ball, finding plenty of movement and challenging the Luton openers. Both were unlucky not to pick up early wickets, while a few missed difficult chances off opener Zainab Khan early on proved costly as she went on to make 101 from 74 balls.

Despite that, Saints kept battling throughout the innings. Katie Pankhurst (2-20) and Anum Ahmad (2-40) both picked up wickets, as Luton finished on 229-6.

In reply, Saints lost a couple of early wickets before Anum and Sally steadied things with a stubborn partnership of 34 against some accurate bowling. Anum top-scored with 20 but wickets continued to fall and Saints were eventually bowled out for 57 in 28.2 overs.

A tough day, but one filled with potential as we head into our next game against Broxbourne!
