St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 24 runs

Match report A fabulous match to start the season for the U12s, who ended up succumbing to a narrow 24 run defeat against a well drilled Bushey team.
St Albans welcomed two new faces to the team - Reyaansh and Prakarsh - both of whom performed exceptionally well in their first match.
Josh was given the task of performing the toss on a sunny but chilly evening in Bushey; Bushey’s skipper called correctly and put St Albans in to bat.
Jay and Iolo opened up, batting in a composed, risk free manner, amassing 25 runs without the loss of a wicket during their four overs at the crease. Some well judged singles and great picking of the gaps highlighting how practice is paying dividends. A four from Aston and some well timed strokes from Henry the highlight of the next pair, although runs became harder to find as Bushey’s bowlers found their rhythm. Wickets fell regularly (a total of 9 lost in the innings), due in part to some indecisive calling, but mostly due to excellent bowling. Atticus and Hamea showed glimpses of brilliance, with sumptuous drives, Reyaansh and Neerav batted nicely together rotating the strike well, and while Prakarsh found the going tough he applied himself really well. Batting with Prakarsh in the 4th pair, Josh took a liking to the bowling, and scored 21 from 15 balls, including a monstrous six over midwicket. A score of 260 posted, giving St Albans something to defend.
The bowling was consistent, with excellent lines and lengths found; Henry our star performer with the ball, picking up two wickets by bowling at the stumps! Everyone applied themselves well in the field, stopping what they could, and a few runouts kept us in the hunt. The final pair came to the crease still needing eleven to win, but Krishil kept his cool and punished anything a bit short of length, taking Bushey to victory. Reyaansh bowled with a lovely rhythm, often beating the bat, and Prakarsh found a line that batters struggled to get away, but in the end Bushey just found that extra gear and were deserved winners on the day.
An encouraging start to the season; the spirit in the field remained high throughout, and I have high hopes for the team going forwards
