Match report The IIIs slumped to another defeat, this time at the hands of second from bottom Stevenage, on a hot and sticky afternoon at Sandpit Lane.

Bowling first, Saints' bowling and fielding was decent throughout, with neither side ever getting on top on a wicket that was a little two paced. Slater's 38 was the top contriburation for the visitors, coming in at number 9. Warren and Fleming each managed 3 wickets, and there was a notable senior debut for Joe Button who picked up a valuable scalp. Thompson finished with another three catches behind the stumps.

With the tea having failed to make its way from Clarence Park, a 10 over spell was agreed while Ferguson did the food fetching honours. The seeds for calamity were sewn with two wickets falling before tea was commenced.

From 2/48, Saints then lost 5/17 - the seemingly inevitable middle order collapse, engineered by Brown's wicket-to-wicket bowling. With 80 runs to get, O'Toole entered the fray at number 9, and quickly showed that he was a class above. Identifying spinner McCabe as the end from which runs would flow, he smashed 22 off an over. Consecutive partnerships of 29 and 31 gave Saints a sniff, but after O'Toole holed out on the square leg boundary for a 26 ball 47 the match was effectively over.
