St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 72 runs

Match report A match dominated by a partnership of 141 condemned St Albans to a 72 run defeat which set them further adrift at the bottom of Herts League Division 2A.

Choosing to bat, Holtwhites started badly losing both openers for 10 to Tyler & Smith. Both Farnon & Younis were dropped before reaching 20 with other chances lost when Jacob Winfield overstepped. The warm Saturday began to take its toll as some generous bowling allowed both to score freely until the introduction of Capaldi lead to Farnon being stumped for 68. Younis was slowed as his century approached until caught well by Rosson, who took a better catch in the deep soon after to dismiss Taj. Tyler, with 4 for 30, and Robbie Goddard, with 2 for 11, mad short work of the tail.

Ramsay opened with Tyler but depart for no score; the first of Younis's 6 wickets. His pace saw Chanda edge to slip, Goddard leave one, Howeson beaten by sharp movement and Caley & Telkman caught behind to leave Saints at 71 for 7. Tyler's LBW dismissal seemed high from the home scorer's point of view. Late resistance from Winfield, 11, and Rosson, 13, allowed a first 50 for Max Capaldi before Chaudary ended the innings with 3 wickets.

Saints are now 86 points from safety with 7 matches to play. They host Northwood at Clarence Park this Saturday from 1pm.
