Match report St Albans won the toss and put Bengeo in to bat. Openers Luke Cavanna and Sachin Patel bowled with good pace and accuracy keeping the opening batsmen pegged back, but were unable to find the breakthrough.
A bowling change brought immediate results. Sammy Kumar took 4 wickets in his first spell of 4 overs, returning later in the innings to finish with 7-3-13-6.
Nine bowlers were used and were well supported in the field with all catches being taken. Bengeo eventually finished on 158 for 7 in their 40 overs. Their stand out batsmen was a young colt who batted for 25 overs for his 82 not out.

In reply St Albans started well, Dave Ashton played the anchor role allowing other players to take their scoring opportunities. However a few wickets fell quickly and at 48-3, and slightly behind the run rate, the game was well balanced. Enter Andy Loe, who having demolished Bengeo’s furniture, then set about demolishing their bowling. Andy retired not out on 53 for his first 50 in any form of cricket! It was only left for a few big hits from Andrew Melling to bring home victory in the 33rd over.
