Match report St Albans extended their unbeaten run to 5 matches with a 3 wickets win at Abbots Langley with a side containing many players who came through the clubs colt section. The 228 run chase was based around a positive performance by the top 3 with Jonny Hall top scoring with 72.

With Matt Howeson choosing to field, the hosts started steadily. Gurney's attacking instincts were halted by James Dempsey's maiden first team wicket. Carson & Joubert batted steadily with the 100 arriving in the 30th over. This good base gave Abbots a chance to score more freely in the last 20 overs although fours dried up with good fielding offering mostly singles. Max Capaldi (3 for 54) and Tom O'Toole (3 for 73) both bowled will during the late batting acceleration.

Simon White started quickly with an all but run-a-ball 26 (5 4's) until given out LBW. Sandipan Chanda hit anything loose with a straight 6 and cuts and dabs to third man prevalent in a 35-ball 49. Tom O'Toole batted cautiously for 14 as Hall scored with greater ease against all bowlers. Hall departed for an 86 ball 72 (13 4's) which sparked a mini-collapse of 4 for 31 but with captain Howeson in determined mood the 30 points were won with 3 wickets and 52 balls to spare.

Saints move up to fourth with the promotion places within 50 points but only 4 matches to play. The next three matches are against the bottom 3 starting with the visit of Holtwhites Trinibis on Saturday.
