Match report With stand-in skipper Stuart Murray losing the toss, a young Saints side (featuring 8 Under 19s) were sent into field in tough bowling conditions on what was a particularly small ground. Any doubts were quickly forgotten about though as Eastcote lost early wickets and, with regular bowling changes, were unable to establish a partnership to push them to a threatening score as they were dismissed for 152 from 32 overs - Zac West the pick of a strong bowling attack with 3-17.
Saints’ innings got off to a bad start, losing keeper Harry Kendal in the first over. Things then settled with Moksy Islam and Murray punishing anything short and wide. With Islam and Gyan Rhodes falling in quick succession, Murray (31) and West (30) progressed the innings to 90-3 off 13 before the former was caught in the deep.
Incoming man Jacob Winfield made quick work of the remaining runs, blasting a rapid 37 not out which featured a huge six over the pavilion to draw the scores level and switch-hitting the next ball to win the game.
