Match report Our fine run of dodging the rain continued in the warm afternoon sun. We were lucky to play, as most other games this weekend were rained off but West Herts have covers and the outfield had dried by the time we got started.
But our winning start came to an end against a strong West Herts.
We struggled to get our run rate going against some fine accurate bowling from a varied attack. It was hard going, although at least we batted technically well and used all the 20 overs with only 4 wickets down, But with only 2 boundaries scored the bowlers were on top and 45 looked too few.
So it proved. All we could do (which we did) was to make them work for the runs with mostly accurate bowling - and with no extras conceded until the 10th over. Their opener scored most of their runs, but only cut loose at the end. Will McAlister took the only wicket and would have had a second after a fine catch by Thomas Coulling, but off a no ball.
We face West Herts again later this week and intend to do better.
