The first decent evening after the recent wet period. After in-form Zach Tarrant was out cheaply to a miscued pull, Oscar Reeves (20) and Thomas Coulling (10) built a solid foundation, with good running between the wickets. Then Oscar was run out by some sharp fielding, Tom Bentley (20*) kept the score moving, but a flurry of 4 quick wickets at the other end though raised the prospect of 10 man St Albans not lasting the full 20 overs. Oscar Turner then hung around to support Tom and some extras accumulated. Will McAllister (6*) finished the innings off positively.  97 was respectable but below par.

St Albans went into the field with real intent and lots of encouragement. Excellent team spirit and commitment. Oscar Reeves and Tom Bentley made life very difficult for the openers, and 2 wickets were soon down. A dangerous 3rd wicket partnership then ensued, despite the bowling remaining accurate. Jake Clark, Finlay Killner and Zach Tarrant all kept a good line and length, before Josh Smith came on and broke through with a wicket maiden. The returning Tom Bentley immediately had the danger batsman caught and then we were back with a real chance. But not many runs at all to play with. Oscar Reeves picked up his second wicket from the other end, then another wicket for Tom and 2 very close shouts for caught behind (so I was told by his colleagues, but I was unmoved!) capped his fine spell. Good keeping all the time by u14s' Reuben McComb. Finlay and Jake bowled the last few overs and kept it tight for a well-deserved win. Best figures were Tom B 4 -0-10-2 and Oscar R 4-1-10-2 but a really good team effort, our best performance in the field this season.
