Early Friday evening Rickmansworth contacted the skipper to cancel the fixture due to a shortage of players. However the game went ahead as Naveed Ahmed, Pankaj Bhasin, Bilal Siddique and his brother Wasim, kindly made up the numbers for the Rickmansworth team.
Playing on the astro at Sandpit Lane, the opposition chose to bat. Finlay Killner (5-8-2) and Christian Hay (3-2-3) both bowled with pace and caused the openers some problems. Christian picking up the first wicket in the third over. Naveed Ahmed appeared for the visitors at the fall of the second wicket but fell to the trap set by Christian, and sprung by an excellent catch from Fin on the fine leg boundary. Wickets fell at regular intervals, and included some great catches and two direct hit run outs. Pankaj Bhasin top scored for the visitors on 9, but they were all out for 55 after 27 overs. It was agreed that the visitors would continue and bat out their remaining overs to set a target. This time Naveed took his chance and scored a rapid 51*, well supported by Wasim Siddique (19*). Rickmansworth scoring 81 in their final 8 overs, and a target of 137 was set.
In reply St Albans started positively, Zach Tarrant unlucky to be run out by Bilal's direct hit, as they pushed to run a 3. John Webber held the innings together and carried his bat for an excellent 43*. Syed Naqvi (35*) played some powerful shots and the target was reached in the 22nd over.
Despite the scoreline everyone enjoyed the opportunity to play some cricket on a rain effected weekend, and the chance to gain some bragging rights against their team mates in the opposition team.
