St Albans Cricket Club Lost Lost by 134 runs

Match report Completely outplayed by a better team, who were armed with David Houghton, Zimbabwe International who having started slowly built up a big innings. Only Simon Fretter who finished with figures of 1-31 from his allotted 10 overs came away with respectable numbers.

Having been set an almost impossible score of 361 from 50 overs the St Albans side started well enough with Josh Holt and Andy Arnold scoring at around 6 runs an over. This was shortlived when Holt was bowled trying for another big hit. Holt was quickly followed by Gilbert who completed a forgetable weekend without a run to his name. Andy Jones continued the big hitting with a fine 41, but was outshone by Iain Curtis who scored the St Albans top score (53) before he fell to a catch behind off ex-St Albans player/netter Graham Dill.

With the tie well beyond the St Albans side they did manage to last out the full 50 overs with knocks from Maisey (18), FretterJ (21no) and a unbeaten 12 from Simon Fretter.

A lot of lessons need to be learned if the club wish to progress in any cup competitions and they were well and truely 2nd best in this game.
