St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 5 runs

Match report St Albans were put into the field first, where our fielding and bowling standards remained consistent from the first match, with yet more top-quality bowling, run outs, catches and fielding - special mention to Sophie Meredith for her amazing fielding!
At the end of the first innings, Chesham had set a total of 244-7.
Chesham put the pressure on St Albans from the start of our batting innings and at the halfway mark, St Albans were 205-6. However, a partnership between Olivia Howeson and Anna Shaw saw this total build to 228-6 and after another 3 overs of runs later from Cerys Jones and Hannah Bentley, the match came down to the final over. 6 nail-biting bowls later, despite St Albans’ best efforts, we fell just short and lost the match by 5 runs, ending on 239 runs.
The team showed great character and determination and it was a true reflection of the high level of effort that has gone into training in the last couple of weeks.
A terrific performance, displaying great cricket which all the squad should be so proud of!
