St Albans Cricket Club Won by 108 runs

Match report Even with skipper Amy Price in charge of the coin, she still managed to lose the toss (again) and St Albans were put into bat.
Louise Nichols was bowled 3rd ball of the innings leaving Amy to come in at 3. There was no hanging around, after 5 overs the score was 28-1. Deddington’s fielding consisted of watching the ball go past them and then deciding to field it.
A quick fire 32 from Amy, as she was then given an interesting LBW decision. Jennie at number 4 batted with patience and finding the gaps which led to a well-deserved 90*. Halfway through our innings St Albans were 81-2. Katy Langley batted well and rotated the strike and played some beautiful, lofted drives. A hard earned 23 before eventually caught. A few appearances from other members such as Nicki Bloor, Kate Pankhurst and Arminah Awan in the batting line up helped Saints to 201 off 30.
Cerys Jones and Arminah got underway opening with the new ball. With their 12 overs between them, they had together only conceded 30 runs. A change in bowling led to our slower bowlers turning their arm. Kate and Sophie Meredith bowled at the stumps giving very little away. Sophie(1-18) and Kate (2-2) did their jobs and bowled phenomenally. Liv O'Neill and Amy turned their arms as well bowling a few overs between them. Liv had the well-deserved wicket of Deddington’s captain (1-29). Deddington slumped to a total of 93-4 off 30.
As Michael Jones said whilst providing a ball-ball commentary on the WhatsApp group- ‘At the halfway point are they Deds and buried? They require another 171 so a run rate of 11.5. 30 for 1 off 15. Taxi for Deddington?’
Also, a big shout out to Ciaran Walsh for umpiring, we do really appreciate and help and support for the women’s team!
