Match report Sunday got off to a great start with skipper Amy winning the toss for the first time this season and putting Ballinger into bat first.
Arminah Awan and Cerys Jones bowled consistently on the spot which brought Arminah the first wicket at 16-1. Ballinger were struggling to hit anything off the square, to which another wicket caught by Amy Price bowled Arminah 20-2. Ballinger’s skipper walked to the crease to which every ball was aiming to be heaved leg side. Unfortunately, one too many heaves left her bowled by Cerys, leaving Ballinger 24-3. Kate Pankhurst was brought into the attack and bowled on the spot every-time leaving Kate with bowling figures of 2-5 off 6 overs. Some excellent and challenging bowling from both the Olivia’s (O’Neill and Howeson) lead to more wickets and one wicket maiden over for Amy. This left Ballinger in a spot of trouble not building any partnerships leaving them 63 all out including an outstanding run out from Arminah.
All in all another strong fielding and bowling display from the Saints to which the Ballinger umpire complimented and was extremely impressed by.
Jess Cowen and Katy Langley opened the batting only for disaster to happen when Katy was bowled first ball of the innings. Ballinger thought they were in the game until Amy Price
walked in at 3 and her first ball was dispatched for 4 runs. An excellent partnership between Jess and Amy, before Jess was bowled by a ball that hit the bottom of off stump making it 36-2. Nicki Bloor didn’t hang around either with good running between the wickets and plenty of boundaries (including Nicki seeing one into the car park) seeing St Albans chase the total down in 9.4 overs, Amy Price 32* and Nicki Bloor 13*seeing us home.
