Match report St Albans started the season at the 4th time of asking with a comfortable 8 wicket win over Berkhamstead.

On losing the toss and being asked to field Berko found St Albans bowlers on form from the very first ball with Houslow taking a great catch from May to give him his first St Albans league wicket.

St Albans bowlers kept the pressure on and it was the introduction of Seagrave which bought the next wicket bowling the other opener. From this point onwards Berko got stuck and a boundary wasn’t scored for the next 25 overs as disciplined bowling from both Seagrave and White saw another run out and a wicket for White with only 36 runs coming from the pairs 20 overs.

Some lower order resistance meant that Berko were able to get up to a below par 156-7 at tea.

As with the Berko innings a golden duck was registered and with 34 runs on the board St Albans were two down Regan fell to a good catch to the keeper standing up. However, that was as good as it got for Berko with Seagrave and Capaldi coming together for an unbeaten 125 run partnership.

Capaldi anchored the innings getting to his 50 just before the score was chased down but it was Seagrave who bought some real class to the chase with 78 not out from just 63 balls. The game was finished in style as over a couple of overs Seagrave smoked the bowlers to all parts meaning the runs were chased down within 31 overs.
