St Albans Cricket Club Won 59 Runs

Match report A comprehensive win for the u15 girls against an under strength Grand Union side. Liv Howeson and Jess Cowen opened the batting both batting well at the top of the order. Taking 18 from each of the first two overs made quite a statement, Liv particularly taking advantage of a few high full tosses to race to 26 and retirement, inlcuding four 4s and a 6, whilst Jess played some classy drives along the ground finding the gaps and boundary effectively before also retiring. Sophie Bailes and Evie O'Grady continued the momentum both hitting boundaries in their innings, whilst Christine and Grace bond both struck the ball nicely. 161-6 was an imposing target.

Darcey and Lucy opened the bowling for St Albans, and both found some rhythm and took wickets in their spells. Jess Cowen and Christine both bowled tidy spells, again taking wickets and keeping the Grand Union batters under pressure. Liv passed on the keeping duties, and came on to bowl a fast and hostile spell including a yorker to bowl the Grand Union skipper. At the other end Neha bowled a lovely consistent spell, that the Grand Union batsmen struggled to get away, a maiden in her first over and two further consistent overs left her with great figures of 3-1-5-2. Grace Bond and Evie O'Grady finished off the bowling for St Albans, confirming that all the girls are more than capable of bowling decent spells. A solid performance with the ball and in the field from the St Albans girls, only Nancy of the Grand Union batters was able to get going finishing with 15.

As always seems to be the case the game was played in good spirits the girls happy to get another victory under their belts but most importantly to have enjoyed another days good cricket in the sunshine with their friends, well done girls!
