Match report The long awaited first league game of the new era was here and got off to the perfect start at Redbourn with the skipper winning the toss (heads) yet elected to bowl. This new mentality was slow out the blocks, since a sound start for Redbourn ensued, until Sammy and Mudey combined to break the opening stand. From here the yellows were the better of the 2 sides, restricting the hosts to 226/8, even with no decisions being given from the umps pairing. Jamie was the pick of the bowlers with a cheeky 3-fer, and E.X.Tras the clear top scorer with 37.

The tea interval was one of laughing at the Reading FC keeper and watching the scenes at the Memorial Stadium.

Jamie walked out to bat with purpose and intent, as the then top picked fantasy player, before walking almost immediately back to the changing room after facing a straight second ball which cleaned him all ends up. Poor dismissals were the story of the innings, highlighted by Bancroft running himself out (insert Benny Hill music) as a result of a piece of sublime fielding on the ropes. Billy May put some respect on the Saint’s name, with a modest unbeaten 50 brought up in the final over, ably assisted by Badshead, yet we succumbed to defeat by 46.
