St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 114 runs

Match report After losing the toss St Albans were sent into field. Tom Townend bowling for the club for the first time in 8 years opened with Vikas and were unlucky not to pick up a breakthrough. A typical St Albans catching display in the field aided the visitors. After seeing 2 dropped catches in his first over Sud claimed two well deserved breakthroughs. Fellow debutant Frank put in an energetic display in the field which was rewarded with a debut wick for the club. Aylesbury kicked on making the most of a fast outfield going past 200. Pankaj picked up a couple of later wickets aided by a stumping from Matt Shadwick, capping off a very tidy display behind the stumps only conceding 1 bye.

In reply St Albans were reduced to 2 for 3 thanks to a couple of unlucky dismissals. Skipper Andy Melling and Naz Islam steady the ship until an unfortunate run out saw Naz depart for 8. After a few further quick wickets Melling and Frank took St Albans past 50 and to drinks. Melling departed shortly after for 29. Lower order contributions from Frank, Finn McNabb and Vikas saw St Albans past 100 before eventually being bowled out for 118 against a strong bowling line up.
