Match report Off the back of a strong start to the promotion campaign, Melling was looking to make it three from three for the 5XI.

With a youthful opposition, Melling was tempted to bat first to make a longer day of it, which was quickly dismissed by his fellow team mates. He duly won the toss and put in Wheathampsted to bat.

The bowling was nothing short of exemplary, which was more than backed up by the fielders. All the bowlers chipped in, so it’s tough to pick out the standouts, but Sud with “disgusting figures” (the words of Andy Melling), Young Ethan bowled brilliantly (inspired by his dad), Melling, Kumar and Jude all picking up wickets.

The 5s then looked to finish off a professional performance and get the job done quickly as possible. This saw Shadwick and Grant open the batting. Shadwick, welcomed back for his first game of the season (and no net prep) looked all out of sorts and could only muster 4. No worries though, as Grant and AKJ finished the job with 21* and 24* respectively.

The 5s go marching on!
