Match report St Albans very nearly won their first and only Chess Valley game of the season... but not quite...

Despite the appearance of two 1st XI players for the only time this season, St Albans could not prevent Edmonton racking up 275 runs from their 45 overs. This was despite a 5-50 from Guy Black.

Hamish Douglas got St Albans off to a very good start, although Black and Captain Box fell early. The middle order all got in, but none pressed on for that big score to assist Hamish, who was run out for 71.

'Slogger' Nick James finished off the season, as he seems to finish off every season with 62no, but St Albans very nearly snatched the win with 56 from just 18 balls from R.V. O'Toole, who was run out off the last ball with St Albans 2 runs short.
