Match report Saints went into this game needing a win in order to get back in touch with the early leaders of the league. With rain forecast and a green wicket Saints where fortunate that Welwyn won the toss and deciede to bat. An early breakthrough by White created uncertainty in the batting side and slow progress was made. During the early overs O'Toole and White had no luck with inside edges and potential catches never quite finding a fielder. James Swanton, making his 1st XI debut after arriving from Melbourne, was bought on at first change from the York Road end. After gettting into the groove "Oz" found the line and length required on the "green top" and took 3 important wickets. With the forecast rain reaching Clarence Park after 49 overs an ealry tea was taken. Once the rain relented the visitors only had another 4 overs to bat. They threw the bat at everything and managed to move the score on to 183 after 53 overs. This left Saints with 47 over to reach the target.

The early set back of losing Edbrooke was soon forgotten when Swanton and Chaudhry took on the visitors opening attack with relish. Cutting, pulling and hooking anything short the pair made goo progress towards the target. Following this good early start the momentum was maintained throughout the innings with Saints keeping up with the required run rate all the way through. Once again Caley lead from the front with some explosive batting and he was well supported by Gilbert, McGreggor White and O'Toole. Wickets fell, however, at regular intervals and with 9 runs wanted from 2 overs Saints were 7 down. White and Curtis stood firm with Curtis hitting the winning runs with 3 balls to spare. A great allround performance and 30 well needed points in the bag.
