Wheathampstead II v St Albans Cricket Club 3XI on Sat 27 Aug 2011 at 1.00pm
Match was Abandoned

Match report Rain sunk any hope of a St.Albans victory as the IIIs travelled to near neighbours Wheathampstead, with a team including debutants Calverley and Loveman.
A wet looking pitch delayed the start of proceedings by half an hour, and Eames' penalty for losing the toss again was to head out to open. He duly returned and set the tone for the day. O'Toole batted masterfully for 88, but batting partners were hard to find, and St.Albans subsided for 145 against a varied bowling attack.
Tea was then taken with more gusto than on any other occasion in 2011, for this was the tea of the year, including amongst its delicacies smoked salmon sandwiches, fresh scones served with jam and cream, and a cheese board. Kudos to the Wheathampstead tea ladies.
Wheathampstead's innings spluttered to life, with several chances offered by the batsmen, only to be dropped, and a retired hurt. In the seventh over, an ominous whoosh preceded a significant dump of rain, leaving the outfield too damp to continue.
A somewhat languid contest over, Stuart Wilder led the players back to the bar to hoover up the rest of the tea.
