Match report The St Albans season took another leap forward when they inflicted a five-wicket win on Old Albanian B who until this game had a 100% record in the two games they had started.

The visitors won the toss and put St Albans into bat first who finished on 75 for 5 - slightly under par for what should have been a high-scoring game. Jacob West (18) was top scorer, followed by Andrew Bailey (17) and James Colebourn (11). With Edward Cook ran out for 7 and Jaden Solomons bowled for 6, St Albans struggled to get quick runs and relied a lot on the boundaries and wides to build up the score.

Harpenden’s bowlers kept the bowling solid and the fielding tight. Both James Jarman and Joseph took two wickets each, with the fifth one being taken by Jack Stern.

Harpenden’s wicket keeper and opening batsman, Benedict Baldwin led the innings for the visitors and retired on fabulous 30, hitting 6 boundaries. Other top scorers were Alfie Booth (13) and Harvey Trouson (14). However, most of the batsmen struggled against the St Alban bowlers and found it difficult going with wickets falling regularly.

Bowling figures for St Albans were good too Solomons (2-13), Awan (3-10), Turk (1-17), Armstrong (1-7), West (1-15) and McKinnon (1-2). With nearly 4 over’s to spare, Harpenden conceded their final wicket, but came very close to what was a memorable match.
