Match report The U13s arch rivals St Albans and Old Albanians met on Monday evening for one of the most crucial matches of the season. Having won the toss, St Albans elected to field and for the first 13 over kept OAs run rate down. At one point OAs were 56-5, but then a dismal spell of bowling, poor fielding and dropped catches from St Albans took the home side to 102-8 in the 20 overs. For OAs there was some excellent batting by James? who retired not out on 25 and Oliver R who was run out on 13. On the bowling side, the wickets were shared between George Loveman (20-3), Tim Bagnell (8-2), Talha Turk, Rhys Appleyard and Hashim Awan.

When it came to batting, the St Albans boys started slowly. Andrew Bailey was out lbw on the first ball and Edward Cook soon followed with a run out on 4. Tim Bagnell once again came to the rescue and hit 20 before being called lbw, but it was Hashim Awan (who needed to redeem himself after a terrible over in the first innings where he gave away 17 runs), scored a fantastic 30 not out – this included four 4s and a superb 6. However, it was Rhys Appleyard (15 not out) and George Loveman who were still at the crease as St Albans reached 102 in their 20 overs.

A fantastic memorable game that will be talked about for many seasons to come.
