Match report A stunning performance from the St Albans U13s on a very hot day led to a great and well deserved victory - This was a game of winner takes it all!

Harpenden were put into bat and found it extremely difficult to build up a good score against the St Albans bowlers. The fielding was very tight with only a few balls going astray. Both McKinnon and Loveman stopped some great shots that would have no doubt crossed the boundary. In the first 10 overs, Harpenden’s run rate was very slow as they reached 27-4, but by the close of their innings they had hit 90-8. Great wickets were taken by Cavanagh (16-2), Loveman (17-2), Turk (8-2) and Appleyard (6-1), as well as two superb catches by Bailey and Awan.

The final wicket was snapped up by Solomon’s (10-1). Harpenden’s heights scorer was Kit (25) who retired not out, and only two others just managed to reach double figures.

In the St Albans innings, Cook (2) stood his ground for three overs, but was eventually bowled out. His other half Bagnell (28) retired not out after hitting six boundaries in almost 9 balls. Awan (28) played a similar game as he hit four impressive boundaries and two glorious sixes to also retire not out. It was then up to Cavanagh (21) and Loveman (5) to finish off and win the game with over 9 overs to spare.

Overall the whole team produced a superb display to reach the semi-finals of the Herts U13s league.
