St Albans Cricket Club 3XI v Northampton Exiles II on Sat 31 Aug 2002 at tba
St Albans Cricket Club Won by 7 wkts

Match report The IIIs secured a place in Div 7 next year with a fine win over Northampton Exiles. St Albans won the toss and chose to field, not wanting to risk a London Colneyesque draw.

Despite a groin strian, Micky Eames offered to try a couple of overs with the new ball. A jugtastic 22 overs later, 12 of them maidens he had taken 6-22. Mr Eames should also be complimented on his Stella Artois purchasing ability in the bar later. Emo was superbly supported by Simon Fretter who took 4-24 in 10 overs.

Rex Devadason (21) and Cliff Nicholls (28) took the 3s to 51-0 and should have finished the game. Northampton, however, took 3 quick wickets and caused a rush of unpacking of batting equipment. Max Brown (18no) and Simon Smithers (15no) calmed the situation and confidently knocked off the remaining runs required.
