Match report A good win for the St Albans side, against a very strong Dunstable side, containing four Sat 1st team players.
The St Albans side fielded first and were unlucky to not remove both openers within the first 2 overs, as a missed diving catch behind the wicket went astray. Simon Fretter bowled a good line and length, but it was Colin Murphy who started the wickets, as he bowled the opener off his pads.

Despite several good partnerships, the run rate never got away, and Simon Fretter was rewarded with a smart catch behind.

Dr John came into the attack and proved that he hasn't lost the touch, as he also claimed a wicket, as Charles Smith took a skyscraper of a catch at Long On.

Tim Fretter replaced his brother and depsite several wayward balls, he also had a catch taken behind the stumps.

Andy Rudlin bowled well, giving the ball plenty of air. Although he was rewarded with a wicket, the Dunstable 1st XI captain and Northants 2nd XI trialist, got the better of him on this occasion.

Dunstable declared at 199/7 from 43 overs, leaving St Albans to face around 40 overs in return.

Pat ' I'm going large' Sylvester failed to go large and fell for just 4. Rex ' I'm not going to play the cut shot today' Devadson, failed to keep to his word, as he continued to cut the ball through gully and slip.

However, Rex and young Kyle Sharp kept up the run rate, although it didn't do Rex's heart rate any good. Rex fell for 40, when he was bowled, as the ball rolled long the floor and just tipped the bails.

Guy ' Captain Black' Black played a truly captain's innings as he took advantage of some negative fielding, as Dunstable placed boundary fielders to all parts. Sharp perished when Black called for a single that even Kyle couldn't make.

Colin Murphy continued the rate until Black fell to the Northants Trialist. He 'jogged' in off 3 paces and bowled the fastest ball of the day. Captain Black didn't move and saw his off stump cartwheeling out of the ground. Murphy fell for 20 as he skied a catch to the deep.

The hard work had been done and despite Simon Fretter needlessly throwing away his wicket for just 8 the St Albans side had got the run rate down to 3 runs an over. It transpired that they would receive 39 overs back.

Tim Fretter hit the ball hard and could only find one of the many boundary fielders, but at 3 an over, it wasn't too much of a problem.

Charlie Smith was run out in the cause of a quick single, as St Albans required 5 runs from last over. Tim Fretter hit a single which saw Jeremy Fretter, on a weekend hat trick of '0's, come to the wicket. 3 runs required from 3 balls.

Having missed the first, he was 'awarded' a single, when he kicked the ball for an easy run. Last ball and two required. Tim Fretter swung and hit the ball to long on. The fielder with the best arm. However, J Fretter was quick out the blocks and despite a full length dive, the two required runs were found.

A fine all round performance with everyone in the team having a part to play in the match.
