St Albans Cricket Club 4XI v Northwood Town III on Sat 14 Jun 2014 at 13:00
St Albans Cricket Club Won

Match report After a delayed start which saw the game reduced to 82 overs, Saints won the toss and elected to bowl first on the drying wicket. Hay and Awan kept things tight in the opening overs and their perseverance paid off as both of Northwood's openers fell to for 14 a piece. Hay continued to fire in a mammoth 18 over spell picking up 4 wickets for his efforts, while Pagolu dispatched two more in a mixed spell. A partnership between Khetia and Ghaffer briefly threatened to derail Saint's progress, but the introduction of Hicks' spin wrapped up the tail with the score a little over 100 runs.

Saints run chase started brightly as Maynard rolled back the years with a series of fluent shots around the wicket. However, while Maynard made hay wickets tumbled at the other end aided by Umpire Townend's trigger finger. Saints appeared to be making heavy weather of the run chase, but Hicks steadied the ship with a composed innings of 18*. Maynard completed his half century with a boundary and pressed on, finishing on an unbeaten 57, but it was Hicks who hit the winning runs to give Saints their first win of the season.
