Match report St.Albans finished far the better side in a drawn match at Clarence Park, falling just a wicket short of victory over Northchurch.

Sent in to bat, it was Eames (27) and Ashton (36) who set the show on the road, compiling a partnership of 62 for the first wicket, at a steady run rate. After a 4 wicket wobble, Ypey showed the way to play the legspin of Viljoen, and formed a union with Fleming that yielded 50 runs. Fleming finished with 41, top score, and Ferguson added valuable runs at the end, to bring the innings to a 53 over close on 187-7.

Northchurch's confidence in batting second seemed to hinge upon the success of their South African import, Viljoen, with 4 centuries across the season. Watkins and Garg found their lines, though, and made the breakthrough - Garg taking the crucial wicket of the South African, despite being ignorant that was bowling to the key man. Garg continued on for a fine spell of 12 overs, taking 2/31. Rajani then took over, and continued his great season, claiming 5-35, leaving Northchurch at 7-77 at one stage. But number 9 bat Fidler showed more talent than his predecessors, and belted a 50, while holding things together. Across the last six overs, Saints could not claim the final wicket, to fall just short.

So a good all round performance, continuing some good form at the back end of the season to gain 17 valuable points.
