Match report Losing the toss we were put into bowl on an artificial pitch with an outfield that had just hosted a football match - not ideal and the early part of the game was dominated by some monstrous hitting from the opposition's opening batsman, a gun Aussie intent on hitting the ball out of the ground whenever possible .....our top order bowlers, Ashish Dean, Tom Townend and Mark Telkman bowled well and toiled diligently but had to work hard to contain the belligerence of the Aussie ....at 192-3 with a decent number of overs remaining enter Faizan (Faz) Nisar and Andy Saunders who first partnered up to run out the Aussie on 125 and then between them took 5 quick wickets. With help from Amit Rajani who put in a good shift for his two wickets, Andrew Melling and Hashim Awan who took the innings ending wicket in his one over the opposition collapsed spectacularly to 216 all out. Some committed fielding, good wicketkeeping by Telkman senior and excellent catches gave us a very chaseable total .

And chase it we did - the brothers Nisar - Manny and Faz - opened the batting for St Albans and to cut a long'ish story short that's all she wrote - a typically swashbuckling ton from Manny (146 no) and a more measured but no less impressive 60 no from Faz saw us chase down the 217 required in 30 overs without losing a wicket - a remarkable partnership in an excellent win.

Great stuff from the newly promoted Sunday 2X1!
