Match report On a sunny afternoon in Hertfordshire, Saints IIIs were able to secure another victory at Reed.

Having noted a flat deck, and with a short boundary to one side and a fast downward slope on the other, Reed chose to bat first. O'Neill struck early, but the other members of the Reed top order all contributed. Patient Moodey and carefree Khambhat combined well to frustrate the bowlers, but once O'Toole Sr got rid of the latter - courtesy of a fine running catch by O'Neill - the home side fell away quickly. From the 3 down after 37 overs, the ten men of Reed were all out in the 45th over for 175. On a day when Australia gave up the Ashes at Trent Bridge, antipodean O'Neill took the bowling honours with 6-53, knocking the stumps over five times.

There seemed to be little to fear in the surface, so 175 might have been assessed as under par as Saints set off for their target. After the loss of an early wicket, youngsters Regan and O'Toole Jr joined forces. From the start they put the pressure on the opposition by dashing through for quick singles at every opportunity. This had the dual effect of keeping the run rate up, and dispiriting the opposition, and the loose deliveries that resulted were duly despatched. Shortly after raising an excellent half century, Regan (51), was out, having shared a partnership of 82 with Tom O'Toole (37). Characteristically, Saints stumbled a little in the middle, but Murray and Afroz's contributions brought victory closer, and O'Toole Sr quickly finished things off.

This satisfying 3 wicket win, yielding 30 points, concluded this format of matches, with four one-day format matches remaining to round out the season.
