Match report Wheathampstead were inserted on a greenish looking wicket. Saints bowlers kept up to task, continuing the fine efforts of recent weeks. Though Afroz took the lions share of the wickets he was well supported by seamers Jaffa Chaudery, Dan Longhurst and Sam Pullan. Saints bolwed the oppo out for 136 in the 46th over.
With ample overs to achieve their target Saints batted without any apparent application. Only Steve Ferguson posted a worthwhile score [33]. Despite looking out of it at 106-8 Sam Pullan and Tim Cooke took Saints to within 5 runs of vicory, with hopes only to be dashed by a late run out and the untimely stumping of Pullan.
This defeat takes the second eleven to the foot of the league. Maximum effort is now called for with everyone having to take responsibilty for their performaces, particularly with the bat. Despite a poor run, team spirt on the field remains impressive and a positve approach to the last seven games [six of which are at home] is needed.
