Match report This annual fixture between Saints and Salmagundi Gardeners , an itinerant Sunday friendly team, had to be abandoned after a collision between two St Albans players chasing a high ball resulted in Hassan Salahin sustaining a head injury , which required an ambulance to attend Clarence Park . After examination by a doctor at Watford General Hospital he was sent for a precautionary CT scan. We don’t have any further details at the time of writing but the feeling from the medical staff was that this likely to be a concussion and not a more serious injury.

In the match itself , before it was abandoned after 25 overs of the second innings, Manny Nisar made an excellent 89 not out, ably supported by several of his teammates who chipped in with runs to help Saints to a decent total of 192 on a rock hard Clarence Park pitch on a blisteringly hot day.

St Albans bowling was , to be honest, largely forgettable save for a tight spell from off spinner George Pelham, a decent 7 over spell from Harry Saunders playing his first game for St Albans game for 2 years, which saw him grab his 98th and 99th wickets for the club , and a brief cameo from his brother Joel Saunders , also returning to the club after a long absence – one ball, one wicket before the game was called off.
