St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 90 runs

Match report Tough first match for the U11Bs against a strong Bushey xi. After a panic about venue due to being double-booked with St Albans City football club, we started shortly after 17:30 - Bushey batted first, scoring runs fairly freely. St Albans bowled well, with tight spells from Oscar, Josh and Aston. Wickets for Alex, Oscar and Harry (who bowled the 20th over taking a wicket and only conceding two runs), and a brilliant catch and two run outs from William were the fielding highlights. A solid fielding performance with no dropped catches was very encouraging.
Chasing 287, a daunting but not outrageously high score, seemed achievable, but Bushey’s bowling was exceptional - 11 wickets (including a hat-trick and two 4fers) later and a 90 run defeat was secured. Batting highlights included a glorious cover drive from Arthur, and every batter scored runs off the bat - a positive for the rest of the season. A defeat, but much learning can be taken, and there will be plenty of victories to come!
