St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 3 wickets

Match report We’re getting closer! I’m not just saying it, we really are! St Albans lost the toss and were inserted. Jay and William G opened the batting, and put on a thoroughly dominant display - a partnership of 31 runs in their five overs, for the loss of no wickets. An excellent start and a great base from which to build. Some fabulous cover drives from Jay the highlight. Harry and Benji strode to the crease, and Harry in particular looked very comfortable against the bowling. The introduction of Du Plessis in the 10th over showed the underlying depth of OAs as he bowled with accuracy and pace. William OB and Atticus WG ticked the score along nicely, and debutant James and Alex looked after their wickets well as the final pair. St Albans finished on 248…a tough one to win, but certainly not impossible if wickets could be taken. And taken they were, with St Albans claiming 7 wickets (having only lost 2 themselves). Run-outs for Harry and Benji, and wickets for Alex, Atticus, Harry and Benji (2) showed what we were capable of. Some great bowling from James and William who were unlucky not to take wickets. Du Plessis batted well, scoring 20 off of 10 deliveries, and unfortunately St Albans conceded 38 in wides, with OAs finishing on 279, winning by 31 runs. Good application from all, and it feels like a win is round the corner!
