St Albans won the toss and batted, the runs did not flow as freely as we had hoped, with no one batsman really getting set. Despite aiming for 220+ at the start of the match St Albans felt confident that they had a total that they could defend.
As the Colney innings got going well, 181 was not looking a big enough total, however once the first wicket fell, the runs slowed and the wickets flowed. Colney went from 66-0 to 85-5. The bulk of the damage was done by A Khan, taking 5 for 31 of 11.3 over, Dan Longhurst came back from a couple of early loose over to return with 3 for 51 from 15 overs, including a sharp caught and bowled, Uttam Vijender chipped in with a 2fer. As ever in St Albans V's London Colney matches there were some "sporty" moments, but all in all an accurate sustained spell of bowing from the three wicket takers was enough to secure a good win.
