Tring Park v St Albans Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI on Sun 03 Aug 2008 at 1.00
Match was Abandoned

Match report St. Albans lost the toss and were put into bat by Tring. The match was delayed for an hour due to a leak in the covers and therefore flooded part of the wicket. Play started at 2 o'clock and openers Rudlin and Rowlands got off to a slow start before Rowlands was dimissed with the score on 13. The run-rate did not increase and only Waheed Ahmed, Mike Curtis, Andy Rudlin and Ethan Fogarty made it into double figures. Due to some lusty blows from Waheed the Saints managed to crawl to 146 all out off 39 overs.
Saints got off to a good start with the ball with Charlie Smith taking an early wicket. After that though the Tring batsmen pushed on, and with some loose bowling they were fast approaching St. Albans' score. Ben Ramsey claimed one wicket with a good piece of work behind the stumps from Fogarty. With the score on 110-2 the umpires finally called play to a halt with the rain coming down hard, much to the relief of many of the St. Albans players. Play ended an hour later without the players returning to the field. Tring may have felt hard done by but the St. Albans camp were pleased with the point after refusing to "give" the game to Tring by bowling 4 more overs.
