St Albans Cricket Club Lost by 6 runs

Match report St Albans won the toss and decided to bowl first. A tight opening spell from A.Dean and S.Naqvi set the tone for what was an excellent fielding display supporting by accuarate bowling. A single opposition batsmen stood tall hitting 72, finally being caught on the boundary by H.Knill-Jones from some wiley bowling from A.Saunders. Wickets were shared around with the pick of the bowlers being A.Saunders (8-16-3) A.Dean (6-16-1) and T.Bentley (2.5-12-2) bowling the opposition out for 190.

The opposition took the early wicket of S.Ferguson whos dismissal was unlucky to say the least. St Albans bounced back with H.Knill-Jones (52) and A.Dean (54) turning the tide and putting the bowlers under pressure. Both wickets fell in quick succession with around 70 runs required. M.Islam then hit a quick 36 to put the game firmly in St Albans grasps. However, the wickets began to tumble around M.Islam who finally was caught on the boundary seeking his 3rd maximum of the game. T.Bentley gave one last push coming in at 9 scoring a quick 10 but St Albans ended the game being 6 runs short. A throughly entertaining game. Unfortunately, this one slipped away.
